Mother, Daughter Rescued From Cobb Lake

As he dove into the freezing waters of Cobb Lake Wednesday morning with only a flashlight, Cody Horn had one thought.

Get the girl out alive.

He could barely see the face of 12–year–old Ashley Martin up against the glass of the 1996 Pontiac Grand Am that was submerged in the lake. Grabbing the Maglite he had grabbed from his truck, Horn smashed the back window in.

“I thought she was dead,” he said. “That was one of the worst things I’ve ever had to experience.”

Incompetents Rule the Day

Mosherville.net was offline most of Sept. 21 because the incompetents at the hosting company (to remain unnamed) couldn't charge a credit card for $6.50.

Please accept our apology for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We know that many, many peope in Scipio Township rely upon this web site for practically nothing and we want to continue providing them with practically nothing.

Pictorial Tour Of Mosherville is Basically Complete

The pictorial tour of Mosherville, consisting of over 300 images, is now fairly complete. The east/west section of Curth Road is done, but we may take Plain Street and Mosherville Road out to Concord Road, and we may extend Mosherville Road to the west a bit.

The tour can be accessed from the menu in the upper left corner of this page.

There are currently two ways to navigate the tour:

  • Click on the pictures or the arrows to move from one location to another.
  • Click on a hotspot to immediately take you to that location. Hotspots (blue circles) can be found by running the mouse cursor over the "You are here" map. Most of the intersections have a hotspot.

An automated tour may be added at a future date.

(The picture above is a panorama created by Hugh Blackburn, Slippery Rock, Pa., of three images of Plain Street found on the tour.)

"Old" House For Sale

Do you remember the old house on the south side of E. Plain Street, on the east side of the Grange?

Well...this is it. And it's for sale.

Doug and Pat Keller of Mosherville have completely changed the character of the old house (it used to have vertical siding) by making a large addition to it and by adding a two-car attached garage.

Construction on Plain Street

A new addition has been added to a house owned by Fred Miller on Plain Street west of Winfield Road. The photo shows two contractors, Doug and Pat Keller of Mosherville, working on the interior.

Project: Pictorial of NYC/LSMS Railroad

We've begun a new project at Mosherville.net. We will attempt to show all of the railroad crossings of the NYC/LSMS Railroad from Bankers in Hillsdale County to Jackson in Jackson County.

The railroad is now defunct, but traces of its roadbed are still visible, both in satellite photographs and on the ground.

We currently have images of all of the crossings from Jonesville to Mosherville Station on Mosherville Road.

If you have photographs pertaining to this railroad and would like them published here with this project, please contact .

You can access the images either through the "History" menu (above left) or by clicking on this link.
